OGUN @ 50 : EWEKORO LG TO CELEBRATE GOLDEN JUBILEE OF THE GATEWAY STATE

The Ewekoro Local Government has announced plans to organize a grand commemorative event tagged “Ogun at 50” to celebrate the 50 years of existence of Ogun State, fondly known as the Gateway State.

The event, scheduled to hold on Friday, 6th February, 2026, at the Itori Shopping Complex, is part of activities marking the golden jubilee of Ogun State since its creation in 1976.

According to the Local Government, the celebration is aimed at reflecting on the remarkable journey of Ogun State over the past five decades, highlighting its contributions to national development, cultural heritage, economic growth, and the resilience of its people.

The programme will bring together government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women groups, artisans, and residents of Ewekoro Local Government to celebrate the achievements of the state and renew commitment to its future growth and development.

Activities lined up for the event include cultural displays, goodwill messages, historical reflections, entertainment, and community engagement programmes designed to promote unity and pride among the people.

The Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government reiterated the commitment of the council to supporting initiatives that promote history, culture, and inclusive development, while calling on residents and stakeholders to come out en masse to be part of this historic celebration.

Ogun State, since its creation, has remained a beacon of excellence in education, industry, culture, and leadership, and the Ogun at 50 celebration serves as a moment to honour the past, celebrate the present, and envision a greater future for the Gateway State.
