The Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Barr. Abraham Babatunde Ogunsola, has been conferred with the prestigious “Icon of Student Advancement Award” by the Student Union of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the Student Union leadership to the Yewa South Local Government Secretariat in Ilaro, as part of preparations for the union’s annual Student Week celebration.
In conferring the honour, the students lauded Barr. Ogunsola’s outstanding commitment to youth and student development, his unwavering support for educational advancement, and his significant contributions to leadership and community growth.
They specifically applauded his dedication to empowering young people, promoting academic excellence, and creating an enabling environment for the emergence of future leaders.
Responding to the honour, the Chairman expressed deep appreciation to the students for the recognition. He commended their academic discipline and impressive performance, while urging them to sustain their focus, discipline, and commitment to excellence as they prepare to take on leadership roles in the future.
Also speaking at the event, the Head of Local Government Administration, Sanitarian Samuel Ige, commended the Student Union leadership for their initiative.
He encouraged them to be more proactive in their academic pursuits and praised them for maintaining peaceful coexistence with the people of Yewa South.
Mr. Ige further assured the students of the council’s continued accessibility and support, reaffirming that education remains a top priority of the present administration.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Mr. Fatai Adeniyi, Director of General Services and Administration; Mr. Sunday Sobola, Acting Treasurer of the Local Government; and several other stakeholders.
