The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has expressed grave concern over the failure of the Ogun State Government to adequately address critical issues affecting local government workers, as earlier communicated by the Union.
This position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting of NULGE, held on Wednesday, 28th January, 2026, at the NULGE Secretariat, Agbeloba, Abeokuta, where members reviewed the response received from the State Government.
The Union regretted that the response failed to address its key demands as clearly stipulated in the earlier communiqué.
The Union recalled that its grievances were formally conveyed to the State Government in a letter with Reference No. NULGE/OGS.708/Vol.III/168 dated 21st January, 2026, following an earlier SEC meeting held on Wednesday, 21st January, 2026, at the Union Secretariat in Agbeloba, Abeokuta.
Arising from extensive deliberations, the SEC-in-Session unanimously resolved to issue a 14-day ultimatum to the Ogun State Government, urging His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON, to urgently attend to the yearnings and legitimate demands of local government workers across the state.
The Union stated that the ultimatum expires on 17th February, 2026, and warned that failure of the State Government to positively respond within the stipulated period would compel the Union to embark on industrial action upon the expiration of the notice.
This action, the Union noted, is in strict compliance with Section 18 of the Trade Disputes Act, Cap T8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
While emphasizing its readiness to defend the welfare of its members, NULGE reaffirmed that it remains open to dialogue and robust engagement with the Ogun State Government in the interest of industrial harmony, workers’ welfare, and effective grassroots governance.
