The 1989/1992 Set of the School of Health Technology, Ilese, Ogun State, on Thursday , 16th July, 2026 staged a colourful reunion, dinner and celebration in honour of their colleague, Sanitarian Nurat Taiwo Adeyemo, following her appointment as the substantive Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) in the Ogun State Local Government Service.
The well-attended event, which brought together former classmates, top government officials, health professionals, traditional colleagues and family members, served as a remarkable tribute to a distinguished public servant whose career has been defined by diligence, professionalism and integrity.
Welcoming guests to the event, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Sanitarian Tajudeen Salami (Rtd.), expressed profound appreciation to everyone who honoured the invitation despite the short notice.
He explained that the gathering was organised to celebrate one of their own whose appointment to the highest administrative office in the local government service had become a source of pride to the entire 1989/92 set. According to him, Adeyemo's elevation from the directorate cadre to the office of HOLGA is a reflection of her unwavering commitment to duty, exemplary character and outstanding contributions to public health administration. He congratulated the celebrant on behalf of the alumni and prayed for God's continued guidance, wisdom, good health and success in her new responsibilities. Salami also called on stakeholders to support the administration of Ewekoro Local Government to enable it deliver more effective and people-oriented services.
In her goodwill message, the Secretary of the Ogun State Chapter of the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN), Sanitarian Titilayo Bankole, described Adeyemo's appointment as well deserved and a reward for years of dedication, impeccable service record and exemplary leadership. She expressed confidence that the new HOLGA would bring renewed transparency, efficiency and professionalism to the local government administration, while assuring her of the association's continued collaboration in advancing quality environmental health and public service delivery across Ogun State.
Also speaking, the Head of Local Government Administration, Yewa South Local Government, Mr. Ige Samuel, applauded the organisers for celebrating excellence and recognising one of their own while still in active service. He described the occasion as a rare demonstration of genuine friendship and appreciation.
Mr.Ige paid glowing tribute to Sanitarian Tajudeen Salami (Rtd.) for his selfless contributions to the revival and growth of the Ogun State chapter of EHOAN, describing him as a destiny helper whose commitment to humanity and professional development continues to inspire many, even after retirement.
The emotional atmosphere became even more lively as members of the 1989/92 set, including Sanitarian Lekan Akintoye, Sanitarian Ashamu Owolabi and Sanitarian Sarafa Ajanaku, took the audience down memory lane with nostalgic accounts of their days at the School of Health Technology, Ilese. Amid laughter and fond memories, they recalled Adeyemo's generosity and culinary skills, describing her as a cheerful colleague who was renowned for always serving delicious meals to friends and classmates.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman Of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa, congratulated Sanitarian Nurat Taiwo Adeyemo on her appointment and commended the 1989/92 set of the School Of Health Technology, Ilese for organizing a befitting celebration in honour of one of their distinguished members.
He assured the new HOLGA of the full cooperation and support of the political leadership.
Hon Adesina further stated that Ewekoro local government has become widely recognized for producing administrators within the Ogun state local government service commission.
He cited the remarkable career progression of the current Permanent Secretary of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Engr. Olanike Olawunmi Ogunbona, FNSE , who served as HOLGA in Ewekoro local government before attaining the office of Permanent Secretary.
He also highlighted the success stories of Mrs Kemi Ogunyewo and Mr. Ige Samuel, both of whom rose to become substantive HOLGA while serving in Ewekoro local government.
Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government, Hon. Odunnoiki Adetoye Abdulganiu, represented by the Director of Education, Information and Sports, Mr. Daud Olanrewaju Martins, described Adeyemo as an intelligent, dutiful and highly professional administrator.
He recalled her impressive performance while serving as Acting HOLGA in Ogun Waterside Local Government, expressing confidence that her wealth of experience and dedication would guarantee outstanding success in her new assignment at Ewekoro Local Government.
In his remarks, the Leader of the Seventh Legislative Council of Ewekoro Local Government, Alhaji (Hon.) Abiola Muheeb Kehinde, congratulated the newly appointed HOLGA and pledged the legislature's maximum cooperation. He described Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa as a hardworking and worker-friendly chairman whose leadership style provides an enabling environment for effective governance. He expressed optimism that the cordial relationship between the executive and administrative arms would further strengthen grassroots development and enhance the quality of services delivered to residents.
Responding to the overwhelming show of love, an emotional Sanitarian Nurat Taiwo Adeyemo thanked her classmates, colleagues and all guests for the unforgettable honour.
She described the celebration as one she would cherish for the rest of her life, noting that the affection demonstrated by her classmates reaffirmed the enduring bond forged decades ago at the School of Health Technology, Ilese.
She also expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government for the warm reception and support she has enjoyed since assuming office, as well as the Executive Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government for the confidence reposed in her during her tenure as Acting HOLGA. She equally thanked the Heads of Local Government Administration, directors, public officers and other dignitaries whose presence added glamour to the occasion, praying that God would continually bless and reward them.
Delivering the sermon titled "The Faithfulness of God," drawn from the Book of Lamentations, Mrs. Bola Dare reminded guests that God's faithfulness remains constant irrespective of life's challenges or human imperfections. She noted that God's unfailing grace had sustained the celebrant throughout her professional journey and encouraged everyone to remain steadfast in faith, stressing that God's mercy and faithfulness endure forever.
Giving the vote of thanks on behalf of the family, Oreoluwa Adeyemo, son of the celebrant, expressed amazement at the remarkable success of an event organised within such a short period.
He described the celebration as a true reflection of genuine friendship and enduring relationships, appreciating the 1989/92 set of the School of Health Technology, Ilese, for the exceptional honour bestowed on his mother.
He also thanked the Executive Chairmen of Ewekoro and Ogun Waterside Local Governments, Heads of Local Government Administration, government officials, family members, friends and all well-wishers for their support and prayers, asking God to richly reward everyone who contributed to making the occasion memorable.
The high point of the event was the cutting of the cake to mark the remarkable event.
