The Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Folasade Adeyemo, (Ph.D) on behalf of the Executive Council, Legislative Arm, Management, Staff, and the good people of Odeda Local Government, expresses deep sorrow over the passing of Rt. Hon. Yemi Coker, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and former Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government.
Rt. Hon. Yemi Coker was an outstanding statesman, grassroots administrator, and exemplary leader. His tenure as Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government in 2004, and later as Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly in 2010, was marked by dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the development and welfare of the people.
His demise is a monumental loss to his family, Odeda Local Government, Ogun State, and the nation at large. Throughout his distinguished public service career, he stood out for his visionary leadership, humility, and passion for good governance. His enduring legacy will continue to inspire present and future generations of leaders and public servants.
In honour of the late elder statesman and in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of Odeda Local Government and Ogun State, the Executive Chairman has directed that all flags at the Odeda Local Government Secretariat and its establishments be flown at half-mast for seven (7) days, with immediate effect.
Furthermore, condolence registers have been opened at the Odeda Local Government Secretariat and at the Marriage Registries in Gbonagun, Odo-Eran in Obantoko. This is to enable residents, political leaders, associates, friends, and well-wishers to pay their last respects and record their condolences. The registers will remain open for seven (7) days.
