ADO-ODO/OTA LG MOVES TO END RESIDENTS' AGONY AS LAWAL BEGINS PALLIATIVE MEASURES OF OBASANJO-ELEDI-IJAGBA ROAD, ADO-ODO OTA, OGUN

In a swift response to the persistent cries of residents over the deplorable condition of the Obasanjo–Eledi–Ijagba Road, the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, has commenced palliative rehabilitation of the strategic road, bringing relief to thousands of residents, motorists and business owners in the affected communities.

For years, the road linking Obasanjo , Eledi and Ijagba communities had remained in a state of disrepair, making movement difficult and exposing commuters, traders and residents to severe hardship. 

The situation became particularly worse during the rainy season due to inadequate drainage, persistent flooding and extensive waterlogging.

Following recent appeals by community leaders and residents for urgent government intervention, Hon. Lawal personally visited the affected road to assess its condition. 

After the inspection, he immediately approved emergency palliative works aimed at restoring the road to a motorable condition and easing the suffering of the people.

The  palliative rehabilitation is being executed by the Local Government's Department of Works and Housing under the supervision of Engr. Oladeinde Dapo. 

Ongoing works include excavation and construction of roadside drainage channels to ensure the free flow of stormwater, desilting of blocked drains, filling and grading of failed sections, and general rehabilitation of the road corridor.

Speaking on the intervention, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to responsive, inclusive and people-oriented governance, stressing that every community in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government deserves quality infrastructure and prompt government attention.

"Our people in Obasanjo, Eledi and Ijagba cried out, and we listened. As a government that is truly close to the grassroots, we have a responsibility to respond promptly to the needs of our people. Good roads and effective drainage are not luxuries; they are essential to economic development, safe movement and the overall well-being of our citizens," the Chairman stated.

He assured residents that the project would be executed according to standard and completed within the shortest possible time."

He also appealed to members of the communities to cooperate with site workers, protect the infrastructure and ensure proper maintenance of the drainage channels by avoiding indiscriminate disposal of refuse.

Residents and community leaders have commended the Chairman for his prompt intervention, describing him as a responsive leader who keeps faith with the people and remains committed to improving their living conditions through impactful grassroots development.

In another major infrastructure intervention, the administration is currently undertaking a comprehensive drainage project along Plaza Road linking Maltina in the Sango area, following the successful construction of a box culvert on the corridor. 

The drainage project is designed to improve stormwater management, reduce flooding, protect lives and property, and reinforce the administration's commitment to sustainable infrastructure development across Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.
