As workers across the nation mark this year Workers’ Day celebration, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ewekoro Local Government Chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Omidiji Ayokunle salutes the resilience, dedication, and unwavering contributions of workers to economic growth and community development.
Reflecting on the significance of May Day, Comrade Omidiji noted that the celebration goes beyond mere commemoration, serving as a reminder of the continuous struggle for workers’ rights, dignity, and improved welfare.
He reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to advancing these ideals through purposeful leadership and strategic engagement.
Within a short period in office, the NLC Ewekoro leadership has recorded remarkable achievements, including the successful unionization of workers in several companies that previously operated without recognized labour structures.
This development has strengthened collective bargaining and ensured that more workers now have a voice in decisions affecting their livelihoods.
In line with the true spirit of solidarity, the union has also intervened decisively in resolving workers’ crises across various companies in the local government.
These interventions have not only restored peace but have reinforced confidence in the NLC as a reliable protector of workers’ interests.
Ewekoro Local Government, home to major industrial players such as Dangote Cement and Lafarge Plc, has witnessed improved industrial harmony due to the proactive efforts of the NLC.
Through dialogue, mutual respect, and effective negotiation, the union has helped sustain a peaceful working environment that benefits both employers and employees.
Comrade Omidiji used the occasion of Workers’ Day to commend the Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government for his worker-friendly posture and support for labour-related initiatives.
He emphasized that collaboration between government and organized labour remains vital for sustainable growth and social stability.
He assured all workers in Ewekoro that the union remains resolute and will never compromise on their welfare, stressing that the protection of workers’ rights and the pursuit of better working conditions will continue to be the union’s top priority.
As the world celebrates Workers’ Day, the NLC Ewekoro Local Government Chapter called on workers to remain united, steadfast, and committed to the principles of solidarity and justice, while assuring that the union will continue to champion their course with courage, integrity, and unwavering determination.
