Odeda Local Government, Ogun State, has recorded a significant breakthrough in grassroots healthcare delivery with the successful performance of a Cesarean Section (CS) at the Primary Health Care Centre, Alogi, Obantoko, Abeokuta.

The procedure, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, March 26, 2026, was led by the Health Secretary of the Local Government Health Authority, Dr. Yekinni Ismail Damilare. Both mother and newborn baby boy are reported to be in stable and healthy condition.
This achievement marks a major step forward in bringing essential surgical services closer to residents at the community level.

The Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr. Oluwole Olakunle Fateru, alongside the top management team representing the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Folasade Adeyemo PhD, congratulated the mother and described the development as a landmark accomplishment for the council.

Speaking on the development, Mr. Fateru explained that upon assuming office, Dr. Yekinni informed the Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Folasade Adeyemo, PhD, of his medical specialty and obtained approval to begin surgical procedures at the Alogi health facility.

Dr. Yekinni noted that the success of the operation was made possible through the provision of modern theatre equipment by the local government, ensuring safe and effective service delivery.

“The surgery was successfully carried out around 5:00 a.m., and we are pleased that both mother and child are doing well,” he said.
In her remarks, the grateful mother expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Yekinni and the entire medical team for their professionalism, care, and support throughout the procedure.

She also commended the leadership of the local government for equipping the health centre, stating that the availability of such services within the community will greatly reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to general or federal hospitals for surgical care.

Residents have described the development as timely and impactful, noting that it represents improved access to quality healthcare and a new era for primary health services in Odeda Local Government.

This milestone underscores the council’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the well-being of its people at the grassroots level.
