The Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, has presented a ₦11,464,084,572.60 appropriation bill to the 7th Legislative Council, outlining an ambitious financial blueprint aimed at improving the quality of life of residents in 2026.
The budget proposal, christened “Budget of Renewed Hope,” was formally laid before lawmakers at the hallowed chamber of the Legislative Council, Local Government Secretariat, Itori.
Presenting the estimates, Hon. Adesina expressed gratitude to the people of Ewekoro for their unwavering support since the inception of his administration. He also commended the Leader of the House and members of the Legislative Council for their cooperation and contributions to effective governance.
" We shall continue to ensure prudent management of the financial resources of the local government by following due process, consulting and involving all stakeholders, and blocking revenue leakages for the benefit of our people, " the Chairman stated.
Revenue Framework
The proposed ₦11.46 billion budget is structured as a balanced financial plan, with total projected revenue matching total expenditure.
The revenue profile comprises:
Internally Generated Revenue (IGR): ₦178,780,000.00
Statutory allocation, state allocation and other revenue sources: ₦11,285,304,572.60
The Chairman emphasized that while federal and state allocations remain significant to funding operations, the administration will intensify efforts to boost internally generated revenue in the coming fiscal year.
" We intend to do the best, but a lot rest on money coming to us from Federal Allocation, and State Account.
On our part, we will do everything humanly possible to sky-raise the Internally Generated Revenue for more funds," he said.
The total proposed expenditure of ₦11,464,084,572.60 covers both recurrent and capital components, in line with the council’s policy of maintaining a balanced budget.
According to the Chairman, the 2026 fiscal plan is designed to consolidate on ongoing policies, programmes and completed projects across the council area despite prevailing economic challenges.
" This year's budget is christened, " Budget Of Renewed Hope " , in pursuit of our laudable objectives and to build on the solid foundation already laid through policies,programmes and projects that will have direct impact on the lives of our people and improve the overall well-being of our grassroot populace," he added.
Hon. Adesina also acknowledged the support of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, describing his administration as pragmatic and supportive.
He noted that the confidence and backing of the state government have contributed significantly to Ewekoro Local Government developmental strides.
In his acceptance speech, the Leader of the 7th Legislative Council, Hon. Abiola Muheeb Kehinde, described the presentation as a milestone in the collective commitment to Ewekoro Local Government growth and development.
He formally announced the Council’s acceptance of the 2026 Budget Estimate, assuring residents that lawmakers would subject the document to thorough scrutiny during committee sessions and plenary deliberations.
" At our various committee sessions and plenary deliberations, we will carefully examine the estimates, projections, and policy directions contained in the Budget, engage in constructive debates, and make necessary adjustments where required to ensure the provisions reflect the yearnings and aspirations of our people," he said.
Hon. Abiola emphasized that acceptance of the budget comes with responsibility, reaffirming the Council’s constitutional oversight role to guarantee accountability and value for money.
" Every kobo allocated must translate into tangible development that our constituents can see and feel,"--he stressed.
He further called on traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organisations and residents to support the successful implementation of the budget, noting that development remains a collective responsibility.
The Legislative Council also indicated readiness to receive Supervisors and Heads of Departments for budget defence to ensure timely passage of the appropriation bill.
In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Anisere Wasiu, commended the Chairman, the Executive arm and career officers for what he described as a commendable financial presentation, assuring the public of a diligent legislative review process.
With its focus on fiscal discipline, revenue optimisation and grassroots development, the ₦11.46 billion 2026 “Budget of Renewed Hope” sets the tone for Ewekoro Local Government’s socio-economic agenda in the coming year.
