The Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Barrister Abraham Babatunde Ogunsola, has described Ogun State Governor, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON, MFR, as “a leader like no other in the entire country,” attributing the celebratory mood surrounding Ogun State’s 50th anniversary to the Governor’s exemplary leadership.
Barr. Ogunsola made this assertion on Friday , 6th February, 2026 at the Local Government’s special celebration of “Ogun State at 50,” held at the Empire Pavilion, Ilaro, Ogun State.
According to the Chairman, the people of Ogun State have every reason to celebrate, as Governor Abiodun’s administration has consistently positioned the state at the forefront of development.
Barr. Ogunsola noted that the Governor’s achievements cut across critical sectors, including education, science and technology, infrastructure, healthcare, the judiciary, agriculture, commerce and industry, security, and the entrenchment of true democratic practices, ensuring that Ogun State remains either in the lead or in healthy competition with its peers nationwide.
He further highlighted some landmark accomplishments of the administration, noting that Ogun State recently became the envy of other states with the establishment of Nigeria’s pioneering agro-cargo airport, as well as its emergence as an oil-producing state, developments he said would significantly boost the state’s economy.
“At the local government level, the Governor’s guidance and financial backing have enabled us to perform effectively. No matter how good your ideas are, without funding, progress is limited. With the support of Governor Dapo Abiodun, this administration has executed meaningful, life-impacting projects across the ten wards of Yewa South Local Government,” he said.
Barr. Ogunsola revealed that the Local Government would commence another round of developmental projects in the coming week, attributing the feat once again to the support of the Governor.
He concluded by reiterating that “Governor Dapo Abiodun is a Governor like no other in the entire country,” and used the occasion to call on illustrious sons and daughters of Yewa South, both at home and in the diaspora, to partner with his administration in moving the local government to greater heights.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Latifat Bolanle Ajayi, showered encomiums on Governor Abiodun, describing him as a Governor known for giant strides in governance.
Hon. Ajayi said the Governor’s inclusive style of leadership, which fosters strong cooperation between the executive and the legislature, has ensured the practice of true democracy in the state.
She disclosed that she recently commissioned several projects across Yewa South Local Government as constituency projects, made possible through the financial backing of the Ogun State Government.
Describing the celebratory atmosphere across the state as “a sign of a new age,” the Deputy Speaker said Governor Abiodun’s leadership has renewed hope among Ogun indigenes that their future will be better than the present.
She, however, emphasized that development is a collective responsibility, urging all indigenes of Ogun State to contribute their quota to the state’s growth.
The “Ogun at 50” celebration in Yewa South Local Government was a colourful and vibrant affair.
The picturesque setting of the Empire Pavilion, combined with traditional attires worn by locals and the multicoloured decorations of Gelede, Egungun and other traditional deities, created a striking contrast with the modern tunes of the band, thrilling the mammoth crowd in attendance.
The excitement was so intense that attendees remained glued to the stage, as though afraid that a moment of greatness might pass them by if they blinked.
