The Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, has called on residents of the Local Government Area to embrace the spirit of prayer, sacrifice, love, and peaceful coexistence as the holy seasons of Lent and the Muslim Ramadan commence simultaneously.
In a statement released today by the Council's Director of Information, Mr. Olopade Sakiru, the Chairman described the rare convergence of these sacred periods as a divine reminder of unity, shared values, and the importance of spiritual reflection among the people of Ewekoro.
“As Christians begin the solemn season of Lent — a period of fasting, repentance, and renewed devotion — and our Muslim brothers and sisters embark on the holy month of Ramadan marked by fasting, prayer, and charity, we are reminded that both faiths teach discipline, compassion, humility, and love for one another,” the Chairman stated.
Hon. Adisa emphasized that this sacred season presents an opportunity for all residents, irrespective of religious affiliation, to pray for peace, progress, and sustainable development in Ewekoro Local Government, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large.
He encouraged Christians to reflect on the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ and the values of forgiveness and service to humanity, while also urging Muslims to uphold the virtues of patience, generosity, and devotion as taught during Ramadan.
The Chairman further called for religious tolerance and harmony, noting that Ewekoro remains a shining example of peaceful coexistence among diverse faiths.
“As we fast and pray, let us also remember the less privileged, promote unity within our communities, and support one another in love. Together, through faith and collective responsibility, we shall continue to build a stronger and more prosperous Ewekoro,” he added.
Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa wished all Christian faithful a spiritually fulfilling Lenten season and all Muslim faithful a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan.
