Ewekoro Local Government stood still on Monday, 24 of November, 2025 as ecstatic staff and political office holders poured out in large numbers to honour the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, on his birthday.
The atmosphere at the LG Secretariat, Itori, was filled with joy, colour, music, and heartfelt accolades, as workers and political leaders jointly staged a grand celebration befitting the man many described as “the most celebrated local government chairman in Ogun State”.
The surprise birthday celebration was organized by the management team and the executive council of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ewekoro branch.
In their goodwill messages, the Vice Chairman, Alhaja Abisola Nurat Aliyu; the Leader of the 7th Legislative Council, Hon. Abiola Muheeb Kehinde; and the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Aladeselu, showered praises on the chairman. They commended his remarkable strides in rebranding Ewekoro LG into a modern administrative hub and applauded his ability to maintain a harmonious relationship between political functionaries and career officers, a synergy they said has fueled the council’s unprecedented achievements.
They also appreciated the staff for organizing such a colourful and heartwarming celebration in honour of Hon. Adesina, urging them to sustain their dedication to service and the growth of the council area.
Also delivering eulogies, the Director of Finance and Supply, Alhaja Taiwo Basirat Iyabode , and the Director of Works and Housing, Builder Luqmon Adekunle Asade, affirmed that the chairman’s exemplary leadership, kindness, and commitment have greatly contributed to the rapid progress and peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed across the local government.
Representing NULGE at both the state and local levels, Comrade Fatai Akiode, the Ogun State Deputy President, and Comrade Abdulsalam Ibrahim, Chairman of NULGE Ewekoro branch, hailed the chairman for upholding the council’s identity as “the local government of distinction.” They lauded his administration for providing a first-class welfare package that has boosted staff morale and productivity.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Sanitarian Ige Samuel, described Hon. Adesina’s leadership as the driving force behind Ewekoro LG’s emergence as the best-performing local government in Ogun State—an honour awarded by the Local Government Service Commission.
He noted:
“This award is not a fluke but a recognition of overwhelming performance. The Commission knows what is happening in all 20 local governments, and Ewekoro stands out. You have made your mark as a thorough grassroots politician. If a third term were allowed, it would be an easy victory for you, but it is clear that God has prepared you for higher positions.”
Responding with visible joy, Hon. Adesina thanked the Acting HOLGA, Heads of Departments, and the entire workforce for the professionalism and unity that have shaped the council’s success.
He said:
“I thank you all for appreciating the little we are doing. When we have more, we will do much more
He also commended the political class for their unwavering loyalty and the peaceful working relationship within the system.
“While some councils struggle with internal crises, what we share here is pure love and harmony. They love me, and I love them,” he said.
The chairman further appreciated NULGE executives for their cooperation, noting humorously:
“It’s rare to see Union leaders and the chairman sit together and laugh, but here, it’s our reality.”
The celebration reached its peak with a captivating ewi performance by Arike Elewi, the cutting of the commemorative birthday cake, inter-religious prayer session and the presentation of gifts to the chairman
The atmosphere stayed lively long after the formalities ended, with jubilant staff and political leaders, singing, clapping and celebrating a Chairman they hold in high esteem. The colourful displays , cheerful faces and seamless unity that filled the Secretariat turned the birthday celebration into a memorable spectacle --- one that truly made Ewekoro Local Government stands still in honour of Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa.
