The Executive Chairman, Ewekoro Local Government, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa has charged members of the Food and Nutrition Committee Of Ewekoro Local Government, to adopt holistic approach in order to capture reasonable numbers of grassroot populace in the bid to push out hunger in the land.
The Chairman gave the charge during the inauguration of 12-Member Committee on Food and Nutrition, held at the Local Government Conference Room.
According to the Chairman, " This initiative is a well thought one, most especially at this hard time that many households can not afford three square meals per day, not to talk of balanced diets."
Hon Adesina, while thanking the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun,CON, for the opportunity of extending the laudable program to all the twenty Local Governments in Ogun State is worthy of applause.
Responding, the Vice Chairman who also doubles as the Chairman of the Food and Nutrition Committee, Ewekoro Local Government, Alhaja Abisola Nurat Aliyu, on behalf of committee members, commended the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun,CON, for deeming it fit in bringing the program to the Local Governments, while, equally, extending her gratitude to the Executive Chairman, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa for the confidence reposed in the members of the Committee.
She , therefore, assured the Chairman that all hands would be on deck in ensuring that people, most especially mothers and children have access to the essential food with nutritional value and fostering stronger and healthier communities.
Alhaja Abisola Nurat Aliyu, also sought for the cooperation of the Committee members , saying," I believe in team work as i can not do it alone, so let's come together as one unit and with that, the achievements will be enormous."
Highlighting the objectives of the initiative, Secretary of the Committee, Mrs Obafemi Odupitan, stated that as part of the National Nutrition --774 initiative launched recently by the Federal Ministry Of Budget and Economic Planning is aimed at ensuring the effective delivery of intervention in all the twenty Local Governments in Ogun State.
Among the objectives, according to Mrs Odupitan are ; to improve maternal and child nutrition to reduce malnutrition among mothers and children, as well as to promote health and economic resilience.
She added that as part of the activity of the Committee is to advance the progress towards the sustainable development goal activities (SDG) which include ensuring Zero hunger in the communities and health and well-being, to promote multi sectorial collaboration, establishing Link between Nutrition Officer and other Local Government departments in order to implement nutrition programmes.
The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) will help to monitor and evaluate nutrition data in the Local Government amongst others.
Inaugurated alongside with the Chairman of the Food and Nutrition Committee Of Ewekoro Local Government are : Secretary to the Local Government, Secretary of the Committee, Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Supervisor for Health and Medical.
Others members include; Director Of Finance and Supply, Director Of Water Supply and Environment, Director Of Budget and Planning, Director Of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Director Of Community and Social Development, Secretary of Health Authority and Director Of Education, Information and Sports.
