ODEDA LG HOLDS A ONE-DAY TRAINING FOR MEMBERS OF STAFF ON PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT

.....Dr. Adekoya stresses the urgent need to improve on I.G.R. , hence the need for the training.

The Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State has  held  its first ever one-day training on performance improvement for members of staff in the Local Government at the Council  Secretariat Complex, Odeda.
Declaring the training open, the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Adekoya Olusoji explained that the idea for the training was conceived while exchanging hand over notes with his predecessor, realizing the urgent need to revitalize the Internally Generated Revenue  after going through the financial position/analysis in relation to the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), being the base of revenue source of any Local Government. 
  
He further explained that the training will cover several key concepts which are critical for effective performance improvement which include: - -Setting clear goals that are SMART in nature 
- ⁠Identifying the strength and weaknesses using SWOT - ⁠Feedback Culture  - ⁠Identifying new sources of revenue items  - ⁠Embracing Change 
-Team Collaboration
- Measures of success. 

The astute administrator also used the occasion to enjoin members of staff to be disciplined, diligent, punctual and attend to their duties promptly.

Speaking on  the forthcoming Local Government Elections in the State,  scheduled to hold on November 16th , 2024, Dr. Adekoya urged  everyone to comport themselves and shun any act of violence,  electoral malpractice that could jeopardize the success of the elections.
Welcoming the Head Of Local Government Administration,  the Director, General Services and Administration, Mr. J. A Oyekan, emphasized that the essence of the training is to help in improving on  work schedules and activities. 

He further explained that no meaningful  improvement can be achieved unless staffs are trained and re-trained as directed by the Local Government Service Commission.

Mr. Oyekan, then, outlined the objectives of the programme to include
 setting new goals and priorities 
To inculcate in the participants a sense of responsibility, integrity, honesty, good working attitude and other public services codes of ethics.

As part of the objectives of the training is to also educate the participants on modern ways of generating, improving and widen the internal revenue base of the Local Government, while adding
 evaluation and appraisal of performances with a view to working out modalities on how to improve on same.

While delivering the lecture, titled , "Embracing a balanced lifestyle : Key choices for Optimal health , the Medical Officer Of Health in Odeda Local Government, Dr. A.Olanloye who was represented by the Chief Nursing Officer, CNO, Mrs Adekunle , stated that according to World Health Organization ( WHO), defined  Health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the the absence of disease or infirmity.

She advised that to maintain a healthy living, a regular medical checkup must be maintained, one hour of daily exercise routine, six to eight hours of sleep, avoid smoking and intake of alcoholic drinks.
Present at the meeting were the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Adekoya Olusoji Adetayo, Director General Services and Adminstration, Mr. Oyekan Johnson Akanbi, Director Finance and Supplies, Mrs Sanni Ganiyat Bamidele, Head of Budget, Planning, Research & Statistics, Mr Jones Olufemi, Head of Agriculture & Natural Resources, Mr Sobukola Olukayode, Head Information Education and Sport , Mrs Fadipe Olajumoke Basirat, Internal Auditor, Mrs Yetunde Emerue, Clerk of the house, Mrs Olayinka Michael, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE), Odeda branch, Comrade Solanke Adekunle Rasheed and members of staff.
