The Executive Chairman, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, Ogbeni Odulate Jubril has charged the newly sworn in legislative council members to see their elected position as an avenue to contribute to the development of the Local Government area.
Hon.Odulate made the appeal during the inauguration of the newly sworn in legislative council members at the Local Government Secretariat , Ayepe Road, Sagamu.
"all hands must be on decks", irrespective of political affiliations.
He reminded them that with the granting of financial autonomy to the Local Governments across the country ,the Local Governments are in the era of accountability,responsiveness and Local empowerment, saying , "The populace are expecting much from grassroot than ever."
He assured that the expectation of people would be fulfilled,he reiterated.
The Chairman, appreciated the efforts of the Ogun state Governor,His Excellency,Prince Dapo Abiodun,CON,for the conduct of free and fair elections in the state,turning the state around in terms of provision of infrastructural amenities,good road network,and low cost housing for all.
Hon.Odulate pledged his unflinching loyalty to His Excellency,Prince Dapo Abiodun,that the confidence repose in him shall remain intact,assuring him that he would execute the manifesto program of the All Progressive Party at the grassroot.
The 9th legislative council members took the oath of office and Oath of Allegiance ,while promising all and sundry of positive changes,making bye-laws that would be beneficial,prompt passage of annual budget, among other statutory duties.
Thereafter, the principal officers were elected among the 15 honorable members in which Hon.Oluwakayode Babalola emerged as the
Leader of the Legislative House.
In his acceptance speech, the Leader Of The House, Hon . Oluwakayode Babalola appreciated God's infinite blessings, while noting that their present position is a clarion call to serve in different capacities for the upliftment of Sagamu Local Government.
He urged others to embrace the responsibility that comes with their election.
His words: " Let us work tirelessly to ensure that our Local Government becomes beacon of hope, progress and innovation. Together let us create an environment where citizens feel valued, heard and empowered."
Dignitaries present at the occasion were : the Vice Chairman, Hon.Isiaka Salami, Party stalwarts, Royal fathers, Religious Leaders,Head Of Local Government Administration, Alhaji A.O. Balogun and Directors/Heads Of Department.
